A/B testing (or split testing) consists of comparing two versions of a web page (or in this case, a price) to see which one performs better. You can compare TWO items by displaying those two variants (A and B) to similar visitors at the same time.
The test that gives you a better conversion, wins!
For more information we recommend reading The Complete Guide to A/B Testing from Visual Website Optimizer.
Any time a customer sees a price (A or B) throughout their shopping experience will count as a general impression EXCEPT for when they see the price in their cart or at checkout (those will count as Cart or Checkout Impressions respectively). Seeing a price anywhere in their My Account page after purchase will not count towards any impressions, but if a customer sees a price in the normal shop / product pages, it will count as another general impression even if they’ve purchased that product previously.
The plugin toggles back and forth from Price A and Price B for each new customers that browses your site. Currently, customers that are viewing your site will either see Price A for all products during their or Price B for all products. Individual product’s randomized Price A or Price B is planned for the future.
Yes, their price preference (all A pricing or all B pricing) is generated on their first visit to your site and it saves that in a 30-day cookie. So, unless they reset their cookies, they’ll see the same price for that 30-day period.
